Over-the-counter turkey tags for youth, increased standardization of hunt structures, and alternative management units for white-tailed deer are just some of the new hunt guidelines that Arizona Game & Fish Department is proposing.
The hunt guidelines, which go to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission for approval at its Aug. 10-11 meeting in Flagstaff, will guide department wildlife managers for the next two years when crafting their specific unit-by-unit hunt recommendations.
The proposed two-year hunt guideline packet is now posted on the department’s website at azgfd.gov. And the department has scheduled a public meeting on the matter in Prescott on June 6 at the Yavapai County building on Fair Street from 6-8pm. You can submit comments at the meeting, by e-mail to
