Burke, Coon & Norris sing and tell stories on Oct 19 Print E-mail

The Granite Peak Folk Sessions Presents Burke, Coon & Norris, three of Arizona's finest pickers, featuring Arizona singer/storyteller Tony Norris, headline the Granite Peak Folk Sessions on Friday, October 19, 7pm at the Granite Peak Unitarian Universalist Hall, 882 Sunset Drive, Prescott. The evening will also feature the substantial talents of California singer-songwriter James Hurley.

Bike/Skate Park Temporary Closure Print E-mail

The Mountain Valley Bike/Skate Park will be closed for approximately three (3) weeks beginning Monday, September 10, 2007.

This temporary closure is necessary so that the contractor can ensure completion of the expansion and upgrades to this facility. Signs will be posted at the site notifying citizens of the closure.

Plans for the skate/bike park expansion went to the drawing board last summer and after a series of public meetings the Town moved forward on the project. The skate park will include an area for bikes and improvements to the current skateboarding complex that include concrete and steel jump areas.

Prescott's Storm Drains Get a New Look Print E-mail

Downtown Prescott is getting a new look: 100 storm drains will be sporting new labels. Local nonprofit organization, Prescott Creeks, with its mission to protect, restore and celebrate the area's creeks, is pleased to announce that Saturday, September 8th from 8:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. approximately 30 student volunteers from Northpoint Expeditionary Learning Academy (NELA) under the guidance of Charles Mentken, the 10th grade Social Studies teacher will be labeling drains to help clarify the connection between storm drains and the area's nine local creeks. The student volunteers, who will be wearing bright orange T-shirts labeled Stormwater Squads, will be affixing distinctive medallion-style markers directly to the storm drains.

Prescott Valley Patriot Day Print E-mail

The Town of Prescott Valley is pleased to announce the sixth annual Patriot Day Event at the Civic Center. This FREE event will take place on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the Civic Center Amphitheater, south of the building.

Citizens may bring chairs and blankets to help celebrate patriotism at its best - and pay a special tribute to our local heroes.

In addition, the September 11 Memorial Food Drive will once again help our communities by collecting non-perishable foods or tax-deductible cash donations. Yavapai Food Bank will accept collections on this day at the north parking lot of the Civic Center from 9:00AM to 4:00PM.

Enjoy music, the Days of Service information/display table and information about the Prescott Valley Military Service Monument.

The Patriot Day Event began as a way to recognize the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and the heroic efforts of those serving our country as well as our community.
