(PV)The Town of Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation Department is offering a free chess program at the Prescott Valley Civic Center in Community Room 331 on Monday evenings from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.Players of any age or level of experience are welcome! Volunteer instructors will be on hand to help new players. Get involved in something you enjoy by joining this exciting new club! (PV)The Town of Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Spring Break Tennis Camp at Bradshaw Mountain High School, west campus March 12-16. Ken Jackson, a USPTA professional with 30 years plus teaching experience will be the Camp Director.The cost of the camp is $20 for 10 hours of instruction. (P)The Third Friday Chamber Music Series continues March 16 at 4 p.m. in the
Founders Suite at Prescott Public Library, 215 East Goodwin Street in downtown Prescott. This free concert will feature the Mountain Winds Recorder Quintet, and the "Fairy Tales" trio for violin, cello and piano by Robert Schumann. (J)9 AM to 1 PM - North Central Arizona Regional Watershed Consortium (NCARWC) retreat to discuss the formation of an Arizona Water Consortium. This new statewide consortium's purpose would be to serve as action oriented legislative impact organization moving state policy toward a sustainable water future for rural Arizona. (C)10 AM - Regular meeting of the Verde Watershed Association at the Clarkdale Memorial Clubhouse. Karen Fann and Mark Holmes will give a presentation describing the the Upper Verde Watershed Protection Coalition: its philosophy, goals, ideas and plans for protection of the watershed and upper Verde River. Directions to meeting site: From junction of Highways 89A and 260 in Cottonwood (from Sedona and I-17, respectively) proceed north to traffic light at intersection of Hwy 89A toward Jerome. Turn left toward Jerome and proceed 4-5 miles to 4-way stop sign where Hwy 89A takes a sharp left toward Jerome. At this intersection turn right downhill toward Clarkdale. If coming from Jerome, proceed straight through this 4-way stop intersection. Proceed downhill to 4-way stop sign at Main Street. Turn right on Main and go two blocks to 9th Street. Turn left on 9th Street. Parking lot for Clark Memorial Clubhouse is on right, just beyond City Hall.

(PV)The Town of Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation Department is offering a wheelchair basketball program in Prescott Valley. “Wheelchair Hoops” has appropriated gym time through the spring and summer at Coyote Springs Elementary School located at 8101 East Highway 89–A. Gym time for the spring and summer is scheduled for 7:00pm to 8:30pm. This activity will incorporate “open gym” and basketball instruction for all participants including practice games on Wednesday evenings. This is a FREE program! (P)59TH ANNUAL KIWANIS AUCTION. It's that time of year again! Time to gather forces for the youth of our communities. The 59th Annual Kiwanis Auction, the longest continuously running community fundraiser, will raise funds for local youth service projects in Prescott and surrounding communities.The Auction is a cooperative effort of the Kiwanis Clubs of Prescott, Prescott Valley, Bradshaw Mountain and Big Bug Creek.Last year local merchants, businesses and professionals donated goods and services that enabled Kiwanis to raise almost $175,000 thus allowing the four Kiwanis Clubs to contribute more to community youth projects and non-profit organizations.You can help! Show your civic pride as an auction donor. You can donate merchandise, services, gift certificates or cash to the Kiwanis Auction. The donated items will be sold during the Auction which will be broadcast on live TV and radio for ten consecutive weeknights from March 26 - 30 and April 2 - 6. (P)Country music icon and former “Hee Haw” host Roy Clark returns to Prescott for one performance only on Saturday, March 31, 7:30 p.m. at the Yavapai College Performance Hall. The show, which includes Clark’s six-member band, was initially planned for March 2, but was moved to March 31 to give Clark time to recover from recent back surgery. The YC Performance Hall is located on the Prescott campus at 1100 E. (PV)The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department now offers an introductory Spanish class designed for students that have limited knowledge of Spanish! Aspiring students who wish to learn the language will be instructed by Leigh Simmons in this five-week program. The class is scheduled for Thursday evenings at the Town’s Civic Center in room 222 beginning March 1 from 6:30pm–8:00pm and will continue through March 29.Cost: $30.Students will learn conversational phrases and verb usage including participating in written and oral drills and time will be set aside to answer questions at the end of each class. (PV)The Town of Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Hula Class at the Bradshaw Mountain High School, east campus in the band room.    Classes are scheduled for March 10, April 7, May 12, June 9, July 14 and August 11 from 10:00am-2:00pm. Cost of each class is $40. Individuals may call the instructor at 830-0927. Participants will learn some of the Hawaiian language, culture, values and the dances of Hawaii with instructor Kehau Chrisman. Kehau is a native Hawaiian who teaches both modern and traditional hula. Students may sign up separately for each dance class that is offered. (PV)The Town of Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation Department is offering Tuesday and Thursday Aerobics instructed by Kim Roberts. The class will include a warm up, 30 minutes of cardiovascular activities and 25 minutes of toning, including special abdominal exercises. Basic equipment needed for this class will be: set of weights, mat (optional), step (optional) and a ball.The cost of the program is $28 for eight classes. Time: 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Classes begin March 8 through April 6, 2007.
