6th Annual LUNAFEST National Film Festival screens in Prescott, Arizona Print E-mail

LUNAFEST: Films By, For and About Women

LUNAFEST, the fundraising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women's issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities, is holding its premiere event at the Elks Opera House in Prescott, AZ on March 30, 2007. 

This unique film festival will highlight women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine films by women filmmakers. The films range from animated shorts to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women's health, body image, spirituality, relationships, cultural diversity, and breaking barriers.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a pre-reception and live music. and the show runs from  7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. For information and tickets please contact Courtney Osterfelt at 928-350-1007.

All proceeds from the LUNAFEST premiere will go to WEB, Women's Empowerment Breakthrough, an independent project of Prescott College and the Breast Cancer Fund. Thus far, LUNAFEST, which is sponsored by LUNA, the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, has raised over $100,000 for Breast Cancer Fund and over $250,000 for other women's nonprofits.

 WEB, Women's Empowerment Breakthrough is an educational program geared towards helping teenage girls explore, define, and achieve their goals.  WEB hosts annual retreats, year round workshops, and educational events that address the current needs of young women in today's society.  WEB has served over 400 young women in Yavapai County.  For more information, contact WEB creator Courtney Osterfelt at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .
