We keep getting feedback on how much everyone enjoyed Jon Rauhouse on the 19th. I got an e-mail from him a couple of days ago and he said the Raven was one of his favorite places he's played and is planning on coming back this fall. I'll keep you in the loop. Jazz, rock, blues, folk, electronic, and classical are all on the bill this summer, and the Raven is where you will want to be when you are looking for some seasonal shade. This week starts strong and just gets better...
Monday: Ben is out of town (vacationing with Ethan Hawke if you can believe that), but Miguel is holding down the fort and cooking up a West Texas menu designed for a night of Dinner and Dancing with The Prescott Playboys. Brisket, ribs, yardbird, and much more. Vegetarian fare will also be on the menu as it seems Roy Roger's horse, Trigger, was a strong advocate across Texas for the vegetarian diet. Music starts at 6pm
Tuesday: Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece, The Seven Samurai, will be our Tuesday Night Movie. This film was so highly regarded that it was remade into the western, The Magnificent Seven, and acknowledged as being influential in the creation of everything from Star Wars to A Bug's Life. 8:30pm
Thursday: From Albequerque, The Giranimals have a surfy pop sound that is reminiscent of The Zombies and The Beach Boys if they had been fronted by a female vocalist. They have been touring with The Shins and The Album Leaf, but are spinning off on a solo leg and we are the first stop. 8pm
Friday: From New York City, Scott Leavitt is a singer songwriter who has been crisscrossing the country for several years building a reputation as an amazing artist. At one time, Scott lived in Prescott and was in a band with Newt Lynn. Don't be surprised if there is a surprise appearance. 8pm
Saturday: Jackson-Jones Jazz Trio is always amazing when they play at The Raven, and this night should be no exception. They will be joined by a guest vocalist. I should also tell you that it is going to be Carlos B Jones' birthday, so come help him celebrate. 8pm
