Mud Puppies, Summer Studio

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to offer Mud Puppies “Summer Studio”, a special beginning level pottery program for kids ages 6 to 12. Elementary students will learn the techniques of clay art, including wheel throwing, sculpture, preparation, glazing and kiln firing. All supplies included!  

Class will meet on Thursdays, July 5, 12 & 26. The cost is only $45 for three classes! Space is limited for this 90-minute adventure in art.  Classes will take place at the Civic Center in community room 331 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm. Please contact instructor Danielle Wanner at 308-3642 to learn more about the program.

Clayote Wheel Wolves

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to offer Clayote Wheel Wolves, a unique pottery program for teens. Teens will learn the techniques of clay art, including wheel throwing, sculpture, preparation, glazing and kiln firing. All supplies are included!  

Class will meet on July 13, 20 & 27 and the cost is only $45 for three classes. Classes will take place at the Civic Center in Community Room 331 from 12:15pm to 1:45pm. Please contact instructor Danielle Wanner at 308-3642 to learn more about the July session.

Golf Instruction

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department, in partnership with StoneRidge Golf Course, is offering golf instruction to boys and girls 6 to 17 years of age.  

Cost is $40 per student for four lessons. Instruction is scheduled for two separate sessions to be held on Saturdays; Session 2 will be July 7, 14, 21, and 28. Class for boys and girls ages 6 to 10 will be conducted from 10:00am to 11:00am and also from 11:15am to 12:15pm for boys and girls ages 11 to 17.  

Sign ups for this program will be at the Parks & Recreation office and a maximum of 12 students may enroll for these programs. 3-Ring Circus:

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is proud to announce that the 3-Ring Circus has come to Town! And, it’s FREE! Parks and Recreation is offering three simultaneous activities on Tuesday evenings on the baseball fields at Mountain Valley Park and soccer field at the Amphitheater.  

Beginning July 10, Tuesdays will consist of baseball, flag football, or soccer all with instruction! Kids ages eight to thirteen may register for sports on the three separate playing areas.  

Each field will have a sign-up sheet for the participants to fill out from 5:30pm to 6:00pm so you can select your sport for the evening. For soccer and football, please report to the Amphitheater, and for baseball, head to the 4-plex at Mountain Valley Park. This will be a first come, first serve activity, so please be there as soon as possible. All sports will be in progress from 6:00pm to 7:30pm through August 21. Parents are encouraged to offer their assistance and join in the fun! Registration and questions may be directed to the Parks & Recreation Office, fourth floor of the Civic Center, 7501 E. Beginning Gymnastics

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is partnering with North Sky Gymnastics to offer introductory classes for the beginning gymnastic student! Enroll at a special discounted rate of $26 for a four-week session in June and in July!  

To take advantage of this discounted offer, signups must take place at the Parks and Recreation office, fourth floor of the Civic Center – 7501 E. Civic Circle. 

The upcoming sessions for boys and girls ages four-six are scheduled for Wednesday evenings on June 13, 20, 27 and on July 11, 18, 25, and August 1st from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.  

Gymnasts seven years and older will work out from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.  

Classes will include training on the beam, bars, vault, climbing the rope and more! Registration and questions can be directed to North Sky Gymnastics at 759-3435 or the Parks & Recreation Office at 759-3090. 

Hula Classes

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is offering a Hula class at the Bradshaw Mountain High School east campus on Saturday, July 14 and August 11. Instruction will take place from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the high school’s band room. 

This class will incorporate a new and innovative dance that includes music indigenous to Hawaii.

Little Lizards

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to offer “Little Lizards”, a special introductory level pottery program for parents and their little ones to connect with art.  

Little Lizards is a preschool parent/child workshop for ages 4 and 5 scheduled in a class setting, designed to demonstrate the basics of making pottery. Chess

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is offering a FREE chess program at the Prescott Valley Civic Center in Community Room 331 on Monday evenings from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Players of any age or level of experience are welcome! Beginners or tournament players will have a great time learning new strategies or passing on their knowledge to others. Volunteer instructors will be on hand to help new players. Come to play, learn, or just have fun!

Guitar

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is offering guitar lessons at the Prescott Valley Civic Center. The lessons are designed to accommodate skill levels for any and all ages! Students will be able to pursue a variety of styles on the guitar with instructor Pete West, whose musical experience includes performing with his band at venues such as the Roxy and Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood. Mr. West attended CSU at Fullerton, majored in music, studied studio engineering and has since released his own CD. Take advantage of the opportunity for professional instruction! A set of four (4) lessons are scheduled for Monday evenings in Room 406 between 5:30pm and 8:00pm (one hour scheduled) on  June 18 and 25. Cost is $75. Fun Fridays for the Summer!

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is kicking off the summer with the extremely popular “Fabulous Friday Fun Days”. These FREE activities conducted at each park will be scheduled at different locations each Friday throughout the summer! Fun Day #4 will have the theme of a Boot Camp! Get ready to assemble as we pull out the stops on our strategy and relay games.  Check the “Leisure News” for the location of each “Friday Fun Day” for a great time at no cost.  

All activities begin at 9:00am and conclude at 11:00am. Kids are also encouraged to dress appropriately and wear closed-toed shoes. Antelope Lanes Bowling Camps

Looking for something to do on Thursdays that is great fun and doesn’t cost too much? Check out the Bowling Camps scheduled every Thursday morning and afternoon starting on June 7 until July 26. The instructors and staff at the bowling alley will be ready for you to get your shoes at 9:30am and 3:30pm and the camp sessions are scheduled from 10:00am to 11:00am and 4:00pm to 5:00pm.  

Cost: $2 per session! Kids between the ages of 6 and 21 will also receive FREE shoe rental and will benefit from professional instruction by receiving quality bowling tips from Antelope Lanes’ bowling coaches! Spots will be first come, first serve each Thursday!

Rubber Stamping

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation Department is offering Rubber Stamping Classes. These will take place 6pm-9pm in Room 222, Saturday, June 16 from 1-4pm in Room 222, Tuesday, July 31 from 1-4pm in Room 331, and Thursday, August 23 from 6pm to 9pm in Room 331. Cost: $15 – supplies included.

Introductory Spanish

Aspiring students who wish to learn the Spanish language may attend a five-week program scheduled for Thursday evenings at the Civic Center in room 222 beginning June 1 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. This program will continue through July 5.  

Students will learn conversational phrases and verb usage including participating in written and oral drills. Time will be set aside to answer questions at the end of each class. The cost for five classes is $30.

Basketball Hoops Instruction

Would you like to improve your hoops skills this summer and work on your game? Have some time on Wednesday afternoons? Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation is offering FREE Basketball Hoops Instruction! Hoops instructor Roy Jenkins has coached high school basketball, run basketball camps and has conducted a basketball “Shooting Academy”. Take advantage of this program to learn the fundamentals and work on the key aspects of the game. Classes will be offered June 6, 13, 20, 27, July 11, and 18 at the Bradshaw Mountain High School east campus gymnasium.  

Kids between the ages of 7 to 9 are scheduled from 12:30pm to 1:45pm and basketball players 10 to 14 will be working out from 1:45pm to 3:00pm. Sign up at the Parks & Recreation Office, fourth floor of the Civic Center, 7501 E. Civic Circle. Potential hoopsters are encouraged to call Roy Jenkins at 759-5518.

Gentle Yoga

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to offer GENTLE YOGA! Yoga can help you to lose weight, become stronger, increase flexibility and relieve stress! The next monthly program in a series of sessions is scheduled for July 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, and 24. This special class is targeted for people who would like to feel great in the morning!  

Class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Prescott Valley Civic Center in Room 331 from 7:45am to 8:45am. Cost is only $35 for seven class meetings.
