Eating Your Acronyms and other Raven Cafe Goings On | Week of July 9 Print E-mail
by Newt Lynn

The week ahead is all about our appreciation and thanks for you.  We will be  running some amazing specials for dinner and from the bar.  Come down, kick back, and prepare to be attended to.  Can I tell you everything that lay instore?  No...we make a lot of it up as we go along, but we do it with attention to detail.  We'll just call it Christmas in July.

Monday:  Ben got to thinking, "Reckon what kind of approach we can take to dinner that will allow for amazing diversity, and delicious consequences?"  Obviously...acronyms.  Each entree is born out of a letter from the name Raven Cafe.  Some entree's are reflected in name alone, some are reflections of the great minds that created them.  Lobster, Reuben's, Banana's Foster, Alfredo, etc...lots of fresh fruit, salads, and desserts if you are looking for lighter fare. Lots of heavier stuff for the rest of you.  Each dish has a story...how it came to be...and we're telling it tomorrow night.  We will also be doing beer and wine pairings for the menu for everyone interested.

Tuesday:  We continue to shine a light on those glorious 80's moments...Our tuesday night movie...Back to the Future.   There are rumors that the courthouse scene was filmed here in Prescott.  True?  Your call...  8:30pm

Friday Night:  Adam Schrader spins blues, classics, jazz, and generally everything else you loved but might have forgotten about.  8pm

Saturday:  O. Allen Huddleston spins a great mix of ambient, eclectic, and down-tempo music you love but haven't heard yet.  8pm

This past week was huge for us.  Aside from having the opportunity to meet a couple of our musical heroes, they also had the opportunity to meet you.  Howe and Victoria both had a wonderful time.  Thank you for coming out and supporting this evening of music.  It meant a lot to us and them.  We have a lot of wonderful events coming up, and to tell you everything would leave no room for anticipation, but I'll put a couple of things on the wind.  Ramsay Midwood - think Tom Waits and the Band on a road trip through the deep south to make their own version of the basement tapes), and Mark Olson (of the Jayhawks,  the Creekdippers w/ Victoria Williams, and a founding father of the alt-country scene that birthed Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Son Volt).  Check both of these artists out online when you get a chance...they'll be here soon.
