This week at the Raven Cafe | Hawaiian Luau, 4 to Go, Spies Like Us, and Saul Kaye Print E-mail
by Newt Lynn

Well, we've seen the first drops of the coming rain, and though it hasn't been much yet, rest easy knowing monsoon season is just around the corner.  Until then, we will do our best to offer you much needed respite from the warm and dusty southwestern summer...one day at a time.

Monday:  Imagine you are on an island...Hawaii for instance.  Palm trees, Pina Coladas, great food, and around you, a whole ocean full of waves.  Sounds like paradise to me.  Now, unless you are planning on getting on a plane tomorrow morning, the best way to enjoy a paradise like this is to come down to the Raven.  Miguel and Ben have put together a beautiful menu:  Oahu Mango Baby Back Ribs, Kauai Ahi Tuna Steak drizzled with a Sesame Peanut Sauce, Molokai Crab Tower, Lanai Island Calzone, Maui Grilled Pear Salad, and Na Pali Coast Stir Fried Veggies.  Musical guests will be the local folk group 4 to Go.  Music starts at 6pm...relaxin' starts as soon as you get here.

Tuesday:  Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase star in one of the most important films to come out of the
80's...Spies Like Us (I think it one the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Score, Best Director, Best Location Scout, Best Special Effects, and Best Catering...not bad...not bad at all).  8:30pm

Thursday:  From South Africa via San Francisco...Saul Kaye returns to the Raven for a solo set that conjures visions of Moe mixed with Little Feat if Randy Newman was running the sound.  8pm

Friday:  Adam Schrader spins a mix of the best music you forgot you loved.  8pm

Saturday:  O. Allen Huddleston spins a mix of the most eclectic songs to ever meet one another on the turntables...Bjork, meet Aretha.  Aretha, meet Nobody.  8pm
