The Prescott Downtown Mural Project proudly presents a celebration of Prescott culture and art history at the grand dedication of the “Art for All!” mural at 109.5 South Granite Street. Festivities begin Friday September 14th for Prescott’s school children who are invited to a day of “Mural Mice” history plays at 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm.
On Saturday Sept 15th, a daylong celebration hosted by the Victorian Society begins at noon and features local bands and friends of the arts and heritage. An art history play beginning at 5:00pm starts off the official dedication of the mural and at 6:00 pm long time friends and descendants of some of Prescott’s greatest artists within the mural reminisce and share stories about their relatives.
Artists in the mural include Gail Gardner, Sharlot Hall, Viola Jimulla, George Phippen, and Brian Gionelli. Mayor Rowley Simmons will make a proclamation and a stone setting ceremony placing the final piece in the center of the mosaic will mark the completion of the project. $10 suggested donation, parking is prevalent, and all are invited.
