One of Arizona's favorite musicians, Danny Rhodes, has recently learned that he has stomach cancer. In light of this, we are organizing a benefit on Sunday, October 7th from 12 noon to 12 midnight at Relics Restaurant and Nightclub in Sedona; to assist with Danny's medical bills and loss of income as he battles this unfortunate situation.
Danny's treatment plan is aggressive and includes nine weeks of chemotherapy followed by surgery and then even more chemotherapy. Danny has told me that he plans on beating this and that he is interested in talking with cancer survivors who have had similar experiences.
Danny's October 7th benefit includes a lineup of some of the finest musicians and bands in the state who are all donating their time and talents on Danny's behalf.
Besides performances from the state's finest musicians, the benefit will also include both a live and silent auction with all proceeds going to Danny.
There have been many wonderful donations from some of the finest businesses throughout the Verde Valley and Sedona. We desperately need more donations of goods, services, and personal time of anyone willing to help.
Here is our chance to give back to someone who has brought so much happiness to so many people through his music and willingness to give. Over the years, Danny has donated his time to perform in many benefits for individuals and organizations and now he needs our help so let's all work together to help Danny through this difficult time.
Danny was recently named Blues Musician of the Year by the Verde Valley's Kudo Magazine.
Danny was inducted into the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame in May 2006.
Benefit organizer, JD Duncan, requests that any musicians wanting to help Danny by participating in this benefit or any individuals and businesses that would like to donate time or desperately needed donations for the auctions to please contact him personally at (928) 634-0629. You will be contacted within 24 hours.
