The beautiful Abert’s squirrel depends totally on ponderosa pine forest for its survival. Dr. Sylvester Allred, a biology professor at NAU in Flagstaff, has been researching the Abert’s ecology for the past 21 years, and has recently published an enchanting book “Rascal, The Tassel-Eared Squirrel” for lover’s of the natural world, no matter what age. Rascal’s tale reveals the lifeways of tassel-eared squirrels, the sometimes cruel randomness of nature, and the teeming and twittering life of a ponderosa pine forest.
He will be joined by the illustrator of the book, Prescott’s own Diane Iverson, at a free evening event to be held at the Highlands Center for Natural History, and will share his enthusiasm for and interest in this small mammal with our community. Mark this date on your calendar and be sure to attend: Tuesday, November 13th, 5:30 p.m. at 1375 S. Walker Rd, Prescott.
