Boatman and award-winning biographer Brad Dimock has authored the definitive works on three great Colorado River legends: Bert Loper, the Grand old Man of the Colorado; Buzz Holmstrom, first to solo the river in 1937; and Glen & Bessie Hyde, the 1928 couple who vanished on their honeymoon voyage through the Canyon. Dimock combines his writing, storytelling and wit with striking images and video clips to present the beguiling tales of these river pioneers.
Dimock was born in Ithaca, New York, and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Prescott College. He proceeded to squander his education for more that twenty-five years as a commercial boatman in Grand Canyon and the rivers of Utah, Alaska, Mexico, Guatemala, Chile, Ethiopia and Tanzania. he is now a writer, river guide and aspiring hermit living in Flagstaff, Arizona.
