Spotlight on the Stars, with the Prescott Astronomy Club, offers astronomy and space science events for all in a lively week of star talks, workshops and astronomy parties.

Kick off your starry week at Watson Lake Park Saturday, April 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. with star gazing, Telescope Tuneups, and the "Ask the Astronomer" booth. Sunday, April 13, Celebrate Sun Day from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the "Earth's Biggest Star" Party, with solar telescopes, sundials and refreshments on the library lawn, and "What an Active Sun Really Looks Like" with astrophotographer Leon Corcoran in the Founders Suite.
Tuesday, April 15 visit Embry Riddle Aeronautical University from 7 to 9 p.m. for an Observatory Open House and NASA educator resource activities in the Davis Learning Center. Educational activities continue Wednesday, April 16 with Astronomy After School from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Prescott Public Library. Explore the NASA NightSky Network, with astronomy activities and fun science prizes. Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Ed Anderson of the NAU Physics and Astronomy Department presents "The Drake Equation: Search for Life on Other worlds." Thursday, April 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. enjoy "Putting Astronomy into Science Fiction" with acclaimed sci-fi author Alan Dean Foster, followed by a book signing.
Wrap up the week Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the library with a Kids' Star Party in the James Room and a Family Star Party on the Library Lawn, both packed with fun events, activities and entertainment. Also from 10 a.m. to noon, join NASA's Mary Lara and Stacy DeVeau for Teachers' Workshops in the Bump and Elsea conference rooms. Make time to stop by the Founders Suite for a multi-media High Altitude Balloon Launch program and a chance to talk with radio operators around the world courtesy of the Yavapai Amateur Radio Club.
