Prescott Independent Theater (PIT), the tri-city area's edgy newcomer on the local arts scene, opens its debut season with Macbeth the first weekend in December at the Lonesome Valley Play House.
Director and Prescott Independent Theater owner Jacob d'Armand has set the epic tragedy by William Shakespeare in modern day Scotland, drawing on urban street life to underscore this classic text exploring the best and worst of the human condition.
A young, ranking member of the Scottish underground, Macbeth's (played by Jeremiah Grabacz) ambitions lead him down a path of treachery and murder. Manipulated by his wife (Allison Pregler) and three ethereal younger sisters, he leads the cast through triumph, violence, evil, and finally, to a measure of hope.
Audiences will recognize many of the mostly under-thirty cast from local productions of musical theater at Prescott Fine Arts Association, Yavapai College, and other venues. The cast includes Jeremiah Grabacz, Allison Pregler, Willa Cowan, Jacob Maynard-Ortiz (assistant director), and Richard d'Armand.
Macbeth, produced and presented in cooperation with the The Lonesome Valley Playhouse, runs Friday through Sunday, December 5 through 7 at 7:00 p.m., with additional matinee times to be announced.
The Lonesome Valley Playhouse is located at 8859 Valley Road in Prescott Valley (parallel to Highway 69 - coming from Prescott, take a left on Navajo and Valley is an immediate right). Tickets are $12 at the door and $10 in advance. The production contains suggestive material which may not be suitable for children; parental guidance is encouraged.
